At Belsize Day Nursery, we have created a calm, welcoming environment where children feel safe, secure, and ready to explore

Our open-plan layout allows children to move freely, make choices, and follow their interests at their own pace. Spaces are thoughtfully designed to feel both stimulating and calming, offering a balance of active learning areas and quieter spaces for rest and reflection.

Natural materials, soft tones, and carefully selected resources help to create an environment that encourages curiosity while supporting children’s emotional wellbeing.

Children are able to explore independently, knowing that caring and attentive adults are always nearby to guide, support, and extend their learning.

Our Rooms

Each room at Belsize is carefully planned to reflect children’s stage of development, ensuring they are appropriately supported, challenged, and inspired.

Baby Room (9 months – 2 years)

Our Baby Room provides a warm, nurturing space where children begin their nursery journey

A strong focus is placed on building secure attachments with familiar adults, helping babies feel safe and confident to explore.

Children are supported through:

  • Sensory play using a variety of textures, sounds, and materials
  • Movement and physical development through safe, open spaces
  • Early communication through songs, stories, and responsive interactions
  • Individual routines that reflect home experiences

This environment allows babies to explore the world around them in a gentle, supportive way.

Toddler Room (2–3 years)

Our Toddler Room is a lively, engaging space where children begin to develop greater independence and confidence.

Children are encouraged to:

  • Explore a wide range of activities that support creativity and imagination
  • Develop language through conversation, stories, and play
  • Build social skills such as sharing, turn-taking, and cooperation
  • Make choices about their play and follow their interests

The environment is carefully organised to support curiosity while providing structure and reassurance.
